2D + 3D Animation – 2023
ITECH students who concentrate in Computer Animation will cover the following responsibilities:
- Collaborating with peers and production team members to understand needs, review scripts, design storyboards, and create and edit animations.
- Using software and other techniques to produce animations Adobe Animate/Flash and 3D Blender/Maya
- Listening to feedback and altering animations to better suit creative objectives or commercial market needs.
- Ensuring that the final product aligns with the needs of the peer review and is delivered on time
- Using creativity and artistic techniques to tell a story or provide information in visual form.
- Research industry trends learn and new applications.
Animator Requirements are:
- Bachelor’s degree or certificate in computer animation, fine arts, graphic design, or related field.
- More education, experience, or proficiency with specific animation software platforms may be preferred.
- Animation Portfolio.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and computer skills.
- Understanding of animation, storytelling, and character development techniques.
- Attention to detail, adaptability, and receptiveness to feedback and direction.
- Ability to work independently or with a team to develop animations and solve problems.
Concept Artist Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the project team to brainstorm and interpret the project brief.
- Researching relevant project material including translation styles, characters, and similar projects.
- Presenting concepts, research, and references to the project team.
- Interpreting initial ideas and creating quick sketch drafts for review.
- Creating detailed concept designs in a variety of mediums specific to the brief such as 2D drawings or 3D renders.
- Participating in feedback consultations and noting changes.
- Developing characters, environments, props, and designs based on feedback.
- Manage project timelines and schedules and reporting any issues to the supervisor.
- Keeping up to date with the latest design trends and advancements in technology.
Concept Artist Requirements:
- A portfolio of work demonstrating strong artistic and storytelling ability.
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a concept artist or graphic designer preferred.
- Excellent sketching abilities for rough conceptualization.
- Proficient in a variety of digital 2D and 3D software programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya, and Blender, UnReal, Unity
- Ability to deliver high-quality artwork against tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpretation abilities.
- Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new software programs and tools.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
and Game Design
WHAT DOES EMPLOYMENT LOOK FOR passion for all genres of games, a “knack” for coding and storytelling, and an understanding of the industry, market and target audiences. Their responsibilities also include developing design and gaming protocols, defining game-play mechanics, high-level of programming skills and coordinating with other game designers, ensuring quality, and meeting with company executives.
Game Designer Responsibilities:
- Creating innovative games for entertainment or education purposes.
- Conceptualizing and developing characters, rules, settings and stories for new games.
- Pitching new game ideas to executives and clients.
- Managing multiple teams and projects.
- Prototyping new games.
- Following industry trends and good practices.
- Monitoring work and cash flows.
- Developing design and gaming protocols.
- Doing quality control
- Advancing programming skills to build games using C# / Python and other scripting languages such a JavaScript.
